Focus on: The God who is Personal & Communal
“I praise You, God, because You are a personal God who gives me the honor of knowing You and knowing others.” (Matthew 8:11)
Pray for: Depth of Community
Please pray that as a church we can be challenged to grow in our relationship with Jesus while at the same time growing in our relationship with others. Pray that God would move barriers to community in our church. Pray for authenticity and realness in our interactions with others. Pray that cultural barriers to self-preservation and pride would be broken. Pray that more and more generosity would break out in our sharing of time, resources and talents with each other. Pray that God would make each of us great listeners. Pray that our words would be used to support and encourage each other. Pray that gossip would not be able to survive within our church. Pray for unity. Pray that we can focus on all that we have in common. Pray that as we care for each other it becomes a light to those in our neighborhoods who are craving authentic community. Pray that in areas where we have become ingrown we can break out and reach out to those around us. Pray for an attitude of risk taking to infect our church so we are always looking outside of ourselves to how we might reach out to others. Pray that we would be a community that welcomes those who are different from us and that celebrates that diversity. Pray that as a community we can relate with those who differ from us in sex, background, age, race and that we can speak into each others lives.
